About the Department

The Department of Surgical Gastroenterology at KIMS has well experienced surgeons with over 10 years of experience in India and abroad.

We are accredited by the National Board of Examinations to train post graduate students in General Surgery (DNB training program). We have a well stocked departmental library and facilities for laparoscopic training.

Ever since the hospital has been opened we have performed more than 3000 procedures including major plus surgeries with less than 1% complication rate. The department strives to offer quality care at affordable cost with personal care from the consultants.

Services Provided

The surgical gastroenterology department offers a full range of services which include:

• Minimal Access Surgery - All types of laparoscopic surgeries – Appendectomy, Cholecystectomy, Splenectomy, Colectomy, Hysterectomy, Adhesion removal and Diagnostic Laparoscopy.
• Bariatric Surgery (Surgery for Morbid Obesity) -Lap Band, Sleeve Gastrectomy and Gastric Bypass.
• Colorectal Surgery - Total Colectomy, Hemicolectomy, AP resection, Low Anterior Resection, Surgery for haemorrhoids and Fistula procedures.
• Upper GI and Hepato Biliary Pancreatic Surgery - Radical gastrectomy, Whipple’s pancreatic resection, Biliary reconstructions.
• Trauma and Emergency Surgery – We have facilities and backup to undertake Emergency surgeries requiring tertiary support.
• General Surgery - We also have a General Surgeon to undertake general surgical procedures like hernia repair, biopsies and vasectomies.

State of the art infrastructure/ Facilities- Yet to receive information

The department is well supported with well equipped post operative surgical ICU and operation theater facilities with modern equipment.

The department has state of the art operating theatres with imported equipment that include Storz laparoscopic equipment, 3-chip cameras, Ethicon harmonic scalpels and ValleyLab Force Triads to cater to all kinds of Open and Laparoscopic surgical gastroenterology procedures.
